Stranded On An Island For 67 Hours, Woman Is Forced Eat Her Husband To Survive

Luke and Carole Offenhiem were celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary when the most terrible thing happened. While vacationing in Honolulu, the couple decided to rent a small boat and go exploring. About an hour into the trip the two stopped somewhere in the pacific to have sandwiches. About to head back to shore, a storm came and swept them off course. Hours later dazed and disheveled, the Offenhiem’s woke on the shore of a small island with their boat no where in sight.

Carole scoured the island for food, but was so lethargic from not eating that she couldn’t search long and came back empty handed. Luke tried to assure her that someone would come looking for them and not to worry too much. Carole started to really panic by the end of the first day on the island. She reverted to her hunter gatherer caveman instincts. Knowing if she did not eat soon she would die, Carole constructed a plan.

“In my professional opinion, Carole would have survived fine without food for 67hrs.”, Dr. Padolinku

She was going to have to sacrifice Luke so that she may live. As sun was rising on the second day Carole put her plan into action. She grabbed a giant coconut and smashed Luke in the head until he stopped moving. Having no knife or way to cook, Carole survived the ordeal by eating his flesh raw. Sometime in the early evening a boat came ashore to rescue the couple. Carole was found ravaging his corpse so she would not starve.

Rescuers quickly surveyed the scene. Luke was dead and Carole had been eating his body. The authorities were to going to have to get involved. Back on Honolulu Carole was questioned about what had happened to Luke. She explained the situation best she could to detectives. The one sticking point for police was that they were only missing for 67hrs, so why the need to kill her husband?

Carole was charged with Voluntary manslaughter as premeditation could not be confirmed. She faces up to 15yrs in prison in convicted. Her defense will center around her emotional disturbance from starving to death. Prosecutors are fairly confident in their case.
